Ingredients (makes 1 large jar):
- 4 + 1/4 cup oatmeal (or a mixture of grains, like spelt, wheat, rye, quinoa, barley, etc.)
- 1 + 1/3 mixed nuts and seeds, coarsely chopped (almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, pecans, macadamia nuts, cashews, flax seeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, etc.)
- 3-4 tablespoons oil of your choosing (choose from Guénard’s Hazelnut, Pecan, Almond Oil, or even Guénard Peanut Oil)
- 6 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup or hazelnut purée)
For a more indulgent mix (optional):
- 1/2 cup grated coconut
- 1/3 cup chocolate
- 2/3 cup dried fruit (dates, blueberries, prunes, cranberries, goji berries, etc.)
Preparation:
Cover a baking sheet with parchment and preheat your oven to 300°F.
Pour all the ingredients except the chocolate and dried fruit (if using) into a bowl. Mix until sugar starts to clump the oatmeal and nuts together.
Spread on the baking sheet and put in the oven. Every 10 minutes, stir and check how it is baking. Brown as desired. Remove from oven.
Finally, let cool. (This allows the granola to become crispy.)
If using chocolate and chopped fruit, add them now to finish.
Will keep in a jar or airtight container for 1 month.
Bon appétit!
